Jay Pipes just posted about the new MySQL camp that will occur in NYC this August. Tickets from Chicago are under $ 200 round trip if you buy them soon.
Want to go? Please leave a comment below. I’m buying tickets soon, I’ll wait on finalizing on the flight dates for a week or so.
From Jay:
Book Your Tickets. MySQL Camp II is Coming on August 23-24
I just got off the phone with Carl Skelton from Polytechnic University and we have finalized the dates for the next camp. MySQL Camp II will be held on Thursday and Friday, August 23-24, in Brooklyn, New York. Polytechnic University has graciously offered to host the camp. More details to follow about the new camp website, places to stay around Polytechnic, and much more. But I wanted to give everyone a heads up. If MySQL Camp II is anything like MySQL Camp I, I expect it to be a breeding ground for new hacks, ideas, and of course, beer.

After founder Jimmy John Liautaud graduated second-to-last in his high school class, his options were joining the Army, college, or starting a business. Because Liautaud was always interested in the restaurant business, he chose the latter.
His father loaned him $ 25,000 to start his own hot dog business. If the business was successful, he would own 52% and his father would own 48%. If it failed, it was agreed that Liautaud would join the army. It turns out, Liautaud never started the hot dog business or joined the army. He instead started the sandwich shop, Jimmy John’s.
Today, Liautaud is the sole owner of Jimmy John’s after buying out his father’s side of the business. Jimmy John’s now sells 18 different types of subs with almost 400 outlets in about 20 states. Liautaud projects the chain to grow to at least 1,000 shops by 2009.
Join us on Wednesday, February 7th for our Entrepreneurial Evening Event as Liautaud explains the frustrations and rewards of starting a successful business.
Editor’s note: This is a great event. I’ve been to TC1 and TC2 so far — indeed, you will not want to miss this! -JAW
